Humboldt County Drug Task Force press release:

On August 28th, 2019, special agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF) received information on the whereabouts of wanted fugitive, Rodrigo Moreno Rios.

Rios was the primary suspect of a Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO) that HCDTF disrupted in September, 2018. This DTO is believed to have been operating in Humboldt County for several years and is responsible for the distribution of multiple pounds of heroin in our communities. Rios avoided capture and a Ramey Warrant was issued for his arrest.

HCDTF special agents recently received information from one of Rios’ associates that he is currently hiding out in Kern County, California. Agents followed up on this information and were able to track him to a residence in Bakersfield. Agents contacted law enforcement officials in Kern County and provided them with this information. Within hours, Rios was located and taken into custody on his outstanding warrant.

In the coming days Rios will be extradited back to Humboldt County for arraignment.
