Patrick Joseph Fox, US Army Vietnam veteran, died and passed onto everlasting life on June 10, 2019 at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.

Pat was born to Joseph and Winifred Fox on January 26, 1950. In New York, New York.

Pat was very patriotic and loved his country; for several years he managed the Veterans Memorial Building in Eureka and is remembered fondly by many for that service. He always aimed to be a support for the service members returning from foreign conflict. He was always grateful for the friendships he formed.

Pat loved to work and was a talented man of many trades. He was often known to help a neighbor or a friend with carpentry, yard work, plumbing, or electrical work. He loved his leisure as well in the form of his Sunday drives with Laura, the open road on his own, or taking pride in listening to his son Shane play jazz.

With easy smile, sense of humor, and willingness to listen to and also spin a yarn, Pat could brighten most anyone’s day, including the staff of the VA hospital and support services for whom, over the last couple of decades, he had the highest regard. He was most secure with the excellent care he received from the VA and always appreciative. The family will always be very grateful to all the wonderful VA staff here in Eureka and the Bay Area for the excellent professional and friendly help.

Pat was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and good friend to so many he held dear. He was brave and strong through his challenges; his friendliness and his smile could light up a room.

He is survived by his family and friends who will miss him dearly. His spirit lives on.

Please join us to celebrate in remembrance of his life on Sept. 1, 2019 at 3 p.m. At the Veterans Memorial Building on H street in Eureka. Light refreshments will follow.
