Two H-DNL teams will compete for a state championship in football this weekend, when St. Bernard’s plays South out of Torrance in the 6-AA decider, and Del Norte plays El Monte for the 5-AA title.
It will be the first time two local teams have made it this far in the same year and the first time any H-DNL team gets to host a state bowl game.
Both games will be played on Saturday.
We know St. Bernard’s and South will play at the Redwood Bowl at 6 p.m., although we’re still waiting on final word where the Del Norte game will be played.
As of Tuesday, the game is tentatively scheduled for Del Norte High at 6 p.m., although the game may be switched to the Redwood Bowl for an early afternoon kickoff.
The CIF will reportedly announce a final decision on Wednesday.
