Eureka Police Department press release:

On December 15, 2019 at about 8:19 p.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Broadway for the report of a vehicle vs pedestrian collision that had just occurred.

It was reported that possibly two vehicles hit the pedestrian and continued north on Broadway without stopping. Officers located the female pedestrian in the roadway and immediately began life saving efforts until Humboldt Bay Fire and City Ambulance arrived on scene.

The female was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The next of kin has been notified and the victim has been identified as Ashley Madonia (36 of Eureka).

Based on the initial investigation, it appears Madonia was crossing Broadway outside of the crosswalk just south of 14th Street when she was hit. Witnesses stated that possibly two vehicles hit Madonia.

The possible suspect vehicles are described as a white newer model lifted Chevrolet Silverado and a grey or silver mid 2000’s model four door sedan.
