Edith “Edie” Charlene Foster, age 83, passed away Dec.1, 2019. She was born July 4, 1936 to Laura and Preston Cruey.

She moved from Arkansas to California at a young age and lived most of her life in Humboldt County. After raising her children, she went to work in the food/restaurant industry. She worked many years as a cook at T-Bone’s restaurant in Eureka. She then moved to Redding and worked several years at Mercy Medical Center when heart problems caused her to retire.

She loved sewing, knitting and spinning. In her younger years, she enjoyed horse back riding and camping. She enjoyed going to church and was especially fond of going to lunch after church with her friends. When family would come to visit, she always wanted to cook for them and she was an excellent cook. She was a very special mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George Foster, mother Laura Cruey, father Preston Cruey, brother CJ Cruey, sister-in-law Judy Cruey, sister Esther Ragsdale, brother-in-law Jarrett Ragsdale, step brother Sammy Howard, sister-in-law Juanita Howard, niece Charlotte Allen and nephew Jerry Ragsdale.

She will be missed by them and her many friends.

A special “thank you” to the outstanding nurses at Mad River Home Health who took wonderful care of our mother.
