Bonnie Ilene Johnson, 79. God called her to Heaven on December 8, 2019.
Ilene retired from Local Woodworkers Union 3-98. She was very proud to have been elected as 1993 Woman of the Year by the American Business Women’s Association. In her earlier years she was active in community service, serving as the secretary, membership chair and lobbyist for Women in Timber; PTA president; secretary of Soroptimist International of Arcata, secretary of her bowling league; Northern Redwood Federal Credit Union’s board president; member of Wha-Nika Woman’s Club; chairman of the first Annie and Mary Day Parade. She served on various parade committees and volunteered for Mad River Grange.
Ilene was born July 8, 1940, in Crescent City, to Nelle and Frank Landon. She leaves behind her husband, Ron Johnson; her sons, David, Jeff (Leanne), Greg (Kristie) and Wayne (Kelle), grandchildren Dane (Mary) and Kaci; her brother Jimmy Landon, sisters Sharon Davis, Susie Russell, Andrea Handy Spaletta and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is remembered for her gift of making others around her feel special and willing to help anyone in need.
The family would like friends and family to drop in any time between 1 and 3 p.m., January 11th at the Mad River Grange in Blue Lake.
