Press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On Feb. 19, 2019, at about 11 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of the 2100 block of Lisa Court in Cutten for the report of a suspicious male subject peering into vehicles nearby.
According to the reporting parties, they were alerted to the male subject when a motion light and alarm was triggered near their garage. At that time, the reporting parties observed the subject, dressed in all black, walking through their yard and looking into vehicles along Amy Court.
Deputies located the subject, later identified as 21-year-old Ezekiel Xanthos Madonia, walking westbound on Campton Road wearing a black cloth mask over his nose/mouth. Deputies contacted Madonia, who informed them that he was in possession of a loaded firearm. When asked to identify himself, Madonia became uncooperative. For the safety of deputies, Madonia was detained and searched. During the search, deputies located the loaded firearm, which was not registered to Madonia, in addition to accessories consistent with attempting to conceal one’s identity.
Madonia was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, carrying a firearm capable of being concealed, false identification to a peace officer and violation of probation, in addition to two misdemeanor warrants for carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and possession of metal knuckles.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office commends the Lisa Court residents for reporting the suspicious subject and potentially helping prevent crimes of opportunity in their neighborhood. Anyone with information regarding related suspicious activity is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251.
