Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – CSU Chancellor Timothy White, right, and HSU president Lisa Rossbacher.

Humboldt state sports fans will get the opportunity to air their grievances at a public forum on campus on Monday.

Last year’s decision by university president Lisa Rossbacher to eliminate the football program after almost a century of fielding a team has left many fans and boosters up in arms.

And it’s not their only concern with the current leadership at the school, particularly within the athletic department.

Rossbacher will step down at the end of the school year and CSU Chancellor Timothy White has already begun the process of hiring a replacement.

The next president will obviously have a big impact on the direction of the university, including the athletic department.

And HSU fans will get the opportunity on Monday to let the people responsible for making that decision know what’s important to them, including any issues related to the athletic department.

White will be in town along with members of the Trustees’ Committee for the Selection of the President.

The open forum meeting will be held at the Kate Buchanan Room in the University Center Building from 1 to 3 p.m.

Community members may park at the D Street Neighborhood Center at 1301 D Street, in the north parking lot only, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Shuttle service will be provided to and from the Kate Buchanan Room.

The open forum will also be streamed live (and web-archived) on the President Search webpage, where individuals may also provide their input.

CSU Trustee Peter J. Taylor will chair the committee.

The direction of the HSU athletic department under interim Athletic Director Duncan Robins has been heavily criticized by many boosters.

Rossbacher announced recently she will be filling the AD position on a full-time basis before she steps down.
