Grady Melton passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the age of 82.

He was born in Jackson County, North Carolina on November 15, 1936, to Claude and Beulah Melton.

After spending four years in the Navy, he moved to California in 1959. He resided in Eureka until his death. He worked in the lumber industry and also as a security guard for over 30 years before retiring.

He was an avid sports fan. He loved his New York Yankees, North Carolina Tarheels and Oakland Raiders. One of his biggest joys was watching his kids and grandkids play sports. If he wasn’t at the games, he was always calling to find out how they played. He also coached both his boys in Little League Baseball.

He loved his North Carolina roots. He would often tell his kids and grandkids all about growing up there with his brothers and sisters. He still have his southern accent after so many years away.

He is survived by his children. Mark Melton, Kathy Giacone, Clint Melton, Amanda Doyle and Ericka Melton; his grandchildren. NaKaylee Coleman, Shelby Giacone, Jackson Giacone, Riley Doyle, Brent Doyle, Kenzie Doyle and Carolina Melton; the mother of their five children, Dianna Melton; along with his siblings, Burder Melton, Ruth Brooks, and Glenn Melton. Plus many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Claude and Beulah Melton; his brothers, Howard Melton, Kelly Melton and Wayne Melton; his sisters, Louise Buchanan and Wanda Tallant.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 2310 N Street, Eureka.
