The Humboldt State men’s basketball team got back on track with a 68-61 win at Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday, re-taking sole possession of third place in the conference standings.

With the win, which comes two days after a loss at Cal State East Bay, the Jacks improved to 8-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and 14-6 overall.

Jamarlin Jackson led the way offensively for HSU, scoring a team-high 18 points, while Justin Everett added 16 points and Jackson Strong 11.

Jack Kaub posted a team-high 10 rebounds for HSU, which led by 12 at halftime.

In women’s action, HSU won its fourth straight, 64-56, also at Cal State Monterey Bay.

The Jacks outscored the home team in only one of the four quarters, but it was enough, as they started strong and led by double digits after the first period.

Isamar Conde scored a team-high 15 points in the win, while Alexia Thrower added 12 points and nine boards, and Jovanah Arrington 11 points and six rebounds.

With the win, the Jacks improved to 10-5 on the season and 8-4 in the CCAA.

Both HSU teams will return home to host Cal State San Marcos and UC San Diego next weekend.
