Raleigh Ray Lightner passed away on December 20, 2018.

Born on November 22, 1988, he grew up in Manila, attended schools in Eureka and joined the United States Marine Corps immediately after graduating. He proudly served his country for four tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. Raleigh could always be counted on for a Camel, a Coors and a joke – or a hug, if you really needed it. He was a fun-loving, beer-drinking goofball who loved his family and friends with all of his heart.

Raleigh is survived by his sons, Wyatt and Willy Lightner; father, Ralph Lightner Jr.; sister, Cassie Phillips; brother Justin and Alexis Lightner; brother Waylon Lightner; grandfather Gary Reeves; grandmothers Jacque Lightner and Charlie Reeves; great-grandmother Mildred Mitchell; aunt and uncle Ida and Dan Heinen; his cousins, who he loved like brothers and sisters — Jon and Amy Sells and their kids Shyniesa, Tyleea, Aiden and Harleigh, Jaci Kanouff, Becky Kanouff; and the love of his life, Hannah Lopez.

Raleigh is preceded in death by his mother, Vickie Wilson, and his grandfather Ralph Lightner, Sr.

Please join the family in remembering Raleigh on Saturday, January 5 at 1 p.m. at the Arcata Veteran’s Hall — 1425 J Street, Arcata.
