Allen Duane Wagner passed away peacefully on January 13, 2019.
Allen was
born to Merwyn and Helen Wagner in Eureka on September 17, 1957. Allen was raised in Eureka, where he attended Eureka City Schools and
graduated from Eureka Senior High with the Class of 1975. During his
school years, Allen had fond memories and travel adventures with his
Grandmothers, Rosa Wagner and Agnes Stump, which he loved sharing with
his family.
Allen explored and worked many careers in his lifetime, beginning with
Angelo’s Pizza Parlor, going on to commercial fishing, construction,
which led him to becoming a Licensed Contractor, to some of his favorite
years and close friendships with Cox Cable, that later turned to
SuddenLink.
Allen had many adventurous enjoyments in life, a few being fishing and
hunting with lifelong family friends, Mike and Brandon Hanley, his
father-in-law Bobby Gallaway, and Brother-in-law Phil Leazer. He also
loved winning on the slots at the casinos, playing a good game of
cribbage, family card nights and any outdoor adventures.
He would have celebrated his 36th wedding anniversary with his wife
Terri this February. Following his marriage, Allen’s other pride and
joys were the births of his sons Todd and Derek. He loved building them
forts in the backyard, taking them camping, being an assistant scout
leader with Boy Scouts and assistant coach for their sports.
His relationships with his sons changed when fulfilling the role of
grandpa; first to Todd and Bridget’s many foster babies, and most
recently in the announcement of Derek and Trinity’s first born child due
May 2019.
In his later years his closest and best friend was his brother-in-law,
Troy Gallaway, who kept him laughing, cared for him and loved him
unconditionally until his last day on earth. There are not enough words of
thankfulness that can be expressed for that love.
Regrets, Allen had a few…and as time passed, those who were able to
express mercy and grace in their forgiveness assisted in Allen’s
peaceful heart as he passed.
Allen is survived by his loving wife Terri, his son and daughter-in-law
Todd and Bridget Wagner, his son and partner Derek Wagner and Trinity
Morrison, his mom Helen Wagner, uncle Leonard Stump, mother-in-law Lee
Gallaway, father-in-law and mother-in-law Hal and Pam Leazer, sister and brother-in-law Linda and Joe Evers, brother-in-law and partner Phil
Leazer and Lisa Lasley, and brother-in-law Troy Gallaway. He also leaves behind his nieces, nephew, numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Merwyn Wagner, father-in-law Bobby Gallaway, and his grandparents.
A celebration of life will be held on a later date.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the care from his doctor Patricia Fischer, the St. Joseph Hospital staff including the Palliative Care Team Members Danika and Natalia, Hospice of Humboldt’s Ida Emmerson, Hospice House who unconditionally provided Allen with the most peaceful comfort, care and dignity his last reflective days before Grandma Agnes greeted and transitioned with Allen to heaven.
