Janice (Janeysa) Mela-Harrigan was born December 9, 1951 in Scotia and passed away on January 20, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her mother Jackie Mela, brother Ronald, and several cousins.

She is survived by her husband Dan, son Brett and step children Scott and Lisa, her father Albet Mela, brothers Jon, and Paul (Jerrie) nieces and nephews Jeremy, Vanessa, Jesse, Katie, Kaycee, Mariah, Amanda (Adam), Daylen, Baily, Hayden and Layla. Brother in law Mike, her cousins Jill Faughender, Julie Winburn, Jaime Green, Denise Sweaney, Kelley O’Donald and her Aunt Flora

Janice graduated from Fortuna High School in 1970. Janice married the love of her life, Dan, and they lived in Laytonville. Janice loved the outdoors and loved to can all kinds of food. She was very generous with the food she canned to those around her. She also loved to fish - where there was a stream of water she would be there with a fishing pole in her hand. She also loved to abalone and enjoyed telling her story about how big they were. Janice loved to garden and had a beautiful flower garden. She loved her animals and they were lucky to have her! Janice would always light up a room when she entered it. She was always upbeat and happy and late for dinner. We will miss you Janice!

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Rio Dell Fire Hall on Saturday February 9th from 1-4 p.m.
