Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – Eureka’s Type Mullins

The accolades continue to pile up for Eureka senior Tyce Mullins, who this week was named to the SportStarsMag.com 2018 All-NorCal Football Defense.

Mullins, who enjoyed a standout season on both sides of the ball for the 12-1 Loggers, was particularly effective at middle linebacker, where he dominated opponents all season long.

Mullins was one of 26 players selected from 19 different high schools throughout the northern half of the state, and was one of seven linebackers.

“There wasn’t much Mullins didn’t do in leading the Loggers to a 12-1 record and a CIF 3-AA NorCal Regional appearance,” SportsStars said. “The 6-1, 210-pound two-way force made his largest impact on defense with 123 tackles, 86 of which were solo and 30 of which were for loss.

“He also posted seven sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a blocked field goal. On offense, he scored seven TDs from his tight end position.”

The honor is not the first for the senior standout, who was previously named to the Prep2Prep all-North Coast Section football team, as well as getting the nod as the Big 4 Defensive Player of the Year.

Mullins, who played a key role in the team’s remarkable back-to-back undefeated regular seasons in his final two years with the team, was also named Humboldt Sports Player of the Year for 2018.
