Humboldt State remained perfect at home in men’s basketball with a comfortable 97-39 win over visiting Portland Bible College on Sunday afternoon.

A total of 17 different HSU players saw game time in the mismatch, with newcomer Jamarlin Jackson scoring a game-high 20 points.

“I thought our guys have learned from other non-conference games to come out with intensity,” HSU head coach Steve Kinder said. “I am excited about the way we shared the basketball. We had 25 assists and nine turnovers, so that is a good indication we are playing the right way.”

With the win, the Jacks improved to 11-5 on the season, including a 7-0 record at home.

After trading baskets early, the Jacks quickly put the game away with a 23-0 run.

Portland Bible College was limited to 25 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes and trailed 51-16 at intermission.

Things didn’t get much better for the visitors in the second half as wave after wave of HSU subs took the court and dominated.

The Green and Gold reserves accounted for 36 of the team’s 46 second-half points.

Jackson and Trevon Bentley combined for 23 points in the final 20 minutes, as the Jacks shot 65.5 percent from the floor.

The Jacks host Cal State Los Angeles in California Collegiate Athletic Association action on Thursday night as part of a doubleheader with the women’s team.

Both the HSU and LA men are 5-3 in conference play.

The women’s game gets under way at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.

The HSU women are 4-4 in conference, while LA is 3-5.
