A surprisingly stealthy yak is still wandering the neighborhood of Bayside after evading Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office deputies this morning.

The HCSO first responded to a report of a “shaggy cow” wandering the 300 block of Upper Creek Road, where deputies later found a loose yak grazing in someone’s front yard.

HCSO spokesperson Smantha Karges told the Outpost that the yak simply wandered away before a livestock deputy arrived on scene with a trailer.

“The yak is somewhere out there,” Karges said.

The yak, which did not have any noticeable tags, was last scene near the intersection of Upper Creek and Jacoby Creek Roads.
