On July 11, 2019 at about 7:45 a.m., a patrol officer with the Eureka Police Department assisted by the Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) served a search warrant at a residence on the 800 block of H Street. The search warrant was in response to numerous complaints of squatters in the vacant residence, drugs, and nuisance activity.

Officers and detectives detained ten people on scene during the search. The search yielded methamphetamine and heroin indicative of sales, one firearm, ammunition, and a motorcycle that had been reported stolen out of Arcata in June of 2019.

Four of the ten detained people were arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.

Matthew Painter (40 of Eureka) was arrested for being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition and body armor and possession of controlled substances and narcotics for sales.

Courtney Garrett (30 of Eureka) was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation.

Marshall McConnel (29 of Hoopa) was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Tamela Brown (38 of Eureka) was arrested for maintaining a drug house.
