Donald “Chappy” Chapman left this earth way too soon on June 24, 2019, peacefully, at home.
He was born November 11, 1957 to Frances and Stewart Chapman in Eureka, where he lived his entire life. Chappy graduated from Eureka Senior High in 1975, and following his father‘s footsteps went to work for Simpson plywood, where he worked until its closure. He then worked for a local pulpmill until its closure, at which time he went to work at LineX, where he worked until he received a kidney transplant 22 years ago.
Two of his favorite past times were ocean fishing with friend Jim Mendes and four-wheeling with friend Steve Mello. What he enjoyed most was hanging out with his grandsons Mason and Connor Lester.
Chappy is survived by his mother, Frances Chapman; daughter, Courtney Lester (Scott); sister Jimia Chapman; niece Ashley Hershey; and his great-nieces, Ericka and Anicka Hershey. Poppa leaves behind his pride and joy buddies, grandsons Mason and Connor Lester.
A celebration of Chappy’s life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wharfinger Building — 1 Marina Way, Eureka. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that you please bring your Chappy stories, and if you choose your favorite potluck dish.
