The McKinleyville 9 and 10 All-Stars kept their season going with a thrilling 8-7 win over River Park in extra innings at the Little League state tournament in Rocklin late on Monday night.

Joe Tanno led off the top of the seventh with a line drive double and scored what would prove to be the winning run moments later on a Rhythm Green base hit, his third of the night.

Green was instrumental in the victory, and in addition to his big night at the plate he also pitched five and a third strong innings.

Behind the plate, Cody Wilson had a huge game at catcher for the Mack all-stars, who bounced back from a tough 2-1 loss on Sunday and are now 2-1 at the tournament and 9-1 in the postseason.

Bode Reininger also stepped up in relief of Green, throwing 32 pitches, while Lincoln Hungerford led a strong Mack defensive effort with some big plays at third base, as well as coming up with a big clutch hit.

Bowdy Hicks also made a couple of big catches in right field, twice ending a River Park rally.

Tanno, who also had a couple of big defensive catches, finished the game with two hits, as did Hunter Carper and Bode Reininger.

Reininger and Gunner Coleman each drove in two runs, as Mack scored seven times in the top of the fourth to take a commanding 7-1 lead.

River Park, however answered immediately, scoring four runs in the bottom half of the inning and tying the game with two more an inning later.

Wilson and Coleman each also had a double for McKinleyville.

The McKinleyville all-stars will play a fourth game in four days at the tournament on Tuesday night.
