The Humboldt Crabs remained red hot with a 7-4 win over the Humboldt B52s at the Arcata Ball Park on Wednesday night, completing a five-game season sweep.

But they had to fight for it, with the visitors rallying late to make a game of it.

After scoring three times in the top of the seventh and once more in the ninth, the B52s had the bases loaded with two outs, bringing the potential tying run to first.

Crabs pitcher Steven Ouellette, however, then struck out Tommy Gale to seal the win.

Riley Cleary led the Crabs at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, while teammate Kokko Figueiredo was 3-for-5 with a double.

The Crabs, who have now won 26 of their past 30 games and are 32-14 on the summer, took control of the game early, scoring four times in the opening two innings.

Trailing 7-0 after six innings, however, the B52s clawed their way back into the game.

Spencer Duggan, Eric Smelko and Karter Koch each finished with a pair of hits in the loss, with Koch also driving in a pair of runs.

Bryce Shortt pitched six innings for the win, allowing just three hits and three walks and striking out 10.

The B52s utilized six different pitchers in their final game of the season, with starter Cade Sheets closing out an impressive summer with the loss.

The B52s close out with a record of 25-14.
