Kevin Michael Primofiore – born in Scotia on February 1, 1956 – passed away July 27, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. Kevin was rushed to the emergency room at Redwood Memorial Hospital on July 23 with severe abdominal pain. Kevin immediately went into emergency surgery and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Eureka following the surgery. Over the next few days, Kevin went through two additional surgeries. Kevin passed away from a cerebral edema on July 27.

Kevin was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. Kevin started working at the Pacific Lumber Company as soon as he graduated from St. Bernard’s in 1974. Kevin worked as a monorail operator and saw-filer in his 33 years with the Pacific Lumber Company. It was in 2010 when Kevin got his dream job working for Fortuna High School as a Maintenance Worker. Kevin loved to keep the grass green and manicured around campus. Kevin’s true passion was making sure “Husky Field” was ready for the Friday Night Lights. You could find Kevin down at the field after work or on his weekend moving the sprinklers to make sure the field was ready to go.

When Kevin wasn’t at work, he loved being at the family cabin in Ruth Lake. During the summer he enjoyed family and all the summertime activities. He especially loved feeding his grandkids endless amounts of popsicles whenever they asked. During the fall and winter months Kevin loved to hunt, whether it was for deer and birds out in the mountains, or ducks and geese in Tule Lake. Above all else, Kevin loved his grandkids Alexa, Aiden, Addison, Peyton and Hadley. Whenever one walked into the room he lit up with a big smile and started acting like a kid himself. “Grampy” as he was known by, was always willing to pick them up or watch them whenever he could. It was almost a guarantee that they would make a trip to McDonalds or Hoppy FroYo.

Kevin is survived by his wife Charlene, daughter Natalie (Josh), son Justin (Samantha), brother Duane, sister Linda, cousin Dario (Alison), cousin Wilma (Mario), nephew Charlie (Kim), nieces Ashlee and Krissten, brother in law Hans (Betty), brother in law Russ (Trish), and sister in law Wanda.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father Paul, mother Clara, uncle Tony and aunt Anna.

The services for Kevin will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019. There will be a graveside service at the Sunrise Cemetery located at 3315 Newburg Road in Fortuna starting at 11 a.m. Following the graveside service, there will be a memorial service at the Riverlodge in Fortuna starting around 12 p.m.

In lieu of flower, the family would ask that you make donation to the Fortuna High Booster Club on behalf of Kevin.
