The Humboldt Crabs and Humboldt B52s will both hit the road this week, and the next time we see them locally is when they play back-to-back games against each other in the middle of next week.

And each will head out of town with very different momentum.

This past weekend, the B52s swept three games from the Redding Ringtails at Bomber Field to go to 7-4 on the season.

The B52s will now play the P.U.F. Caps in Palo Alto on Monday and Tuesday, before visiting Redding to play the Colt 45’s in a three-game stand from Thursday to Saturday.

The Crabs, meanwhile, dropped two of three at home to the San Luis Obispo Blues over the weekend, losing the opener 13-1 before bouncing back to win 4-0 on Saturday night and then falling in the rubber match 5-1 on Sunday.

Davonte Butler continued to impress for the Crabs in Saturday’s win, and in 21.1 innings this season he has allowed just one unearned run on four hits and seven walks, while striking out 19.

The 5-8 Crabs will travel to play two games at the Healdsburg Prune Packers on Wednesday and Thursday, before a three-game stand at the Lincoln Potters over the weekend.

B52s sweep

After winning Friday’s opener against the Ringtails 8-2, the B52s won a close one Saturday night 3-2, and then swept the series with a 10-2 win on Sunday.

Tommy Gale threw 143 pitches on Saturday night, allowing seven hits and three walks in a complete-game win, while striking out 12.

At the plate, veteran lead-off hitter Spencer Duggan continues to impress, finishing 3-for-4, while Braeden Holliday continued his fast start to the summer season with two hits, including a home run.

Karter Koch and Jacob Smith each also had a pair of hits in the win, including two doubles by Smith.

On Sunday, the B52 bats came to play with 15 base hits in the win.

Brian Orr led the way, finishing 4-for-4 with two RBIs, while Cody Banks was 3-for-5, including a home run and a triple.

Holliday added another home run, while Austin Kadle and Duggan each had two hits, including a double by the latter.

Ruben Rios pitched seven innings for the win, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out four and walking no one.

Antonio Caravhlo pitched two perfect innings in relief.

The B52s also played error free ball over the three games.
