Kaden Ritter was 5-for-5 in game two of a doubleheader on Thursday, as the Northern Humboldt Giants 17U American Legion team split a pair of games on the opening day of the Muckdogs tournament in Reno.
Ritter, who had six hits over the two games, drove in six runs in the nightcap, as the Giants battled back from an opening loss to beat the Kings 18-8.
Included in his five hits were a pair of doubles.
The Giants had to overcome an early five-run deficit on the way to the win, scoring 11 times in the sixth to pull away.
Xavier Finegan also had a big game for the Giants, finishing with a pair of hits, while seven other player contributed in a 14-hit team performance.
Brodie Sargent got the win on the mound, allowing eight runs on 10 hits in a complete-game performance.
Earlier in the day, the Giants opened tournament play with an 18-0 loss to the Muckdogs Red team.
Jake Reeser and Mason Hooven combined to pitch all five innings in the loss.
Hooven, Porter Price and Alex Gorge each had a hit in both games for the Giants.
Also in action in Reno, the Northern Humboldt Knights fell 6-3 to the Muckdogs in a back-and-forth game on Thursday.
The Knights will continue tournament play against the Humboldt Eagles on Friday morning.
