Jose Lozolla and his alleged drug cubby

Humboldt County Drug Task Force press release:

On June 20th, 2019, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Special Agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Arcata Police Department, and a narcotic detection K9 with the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office, served a search warrant at a residence located in the 1800 block of G Street, Arcata. During their multi-week investigation, agents received information that Jose Lozolla (age 31 from Kern County, California) is distributing heroin throughout Humboldt County. In addition to Lozolla’s residence, his vehicle was also listed on the warrant.

Upon entering the residence, agents detained Lozolla without incident. Agents searched Lozolla’s residence and seized several items consistent with narcotics sales. These items include packaging material, digital scales, and US currency.

During the search of Lozolla’s vehicle, the police K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics near the center console. Agents located a false compartment in this area and recovered approximately 1.2 pounds of heroin packaged for sales.

Agents located $4,500 in U.S. currency that is believed to be profits from narcotics sales. This currency was seized and will be held pending asset forfeiture proceedings.

Lozolla was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for possession of controlled substances for sales and possession of a false compartment. Pursuant to PC 1275, Lozolla will be held in custody until he can provide proof of legal source of bail funds.
