It took them a little longer than anticipated, but the Humboldt Crabs finally got their first home win on the 10th day of the season on Sunday, defeating the Seattle Studs 4-1 at the Arcata Ball Park.

With the win, the Crabs avoided the weekend sweep against a good Studs team and improved to 3-5 on the season.

The Humboldt B52s were also in action on Sunday, closing out a two-game series against a very competitive Prune Packers team in Healdsburg, falling 4-3 in 10 innings.

No scoring details were immediately available for the B52s, who turned in a much better performance than in Saturday night’s 12-1 loss.

After a busy five days, the B52s return home to play the Redding Ringtails next weekend.

The Crabs, meanwhile, had to rally from an early deficit after giving up a run in the top of the first inning, but held the Studs scoreless the rest of the way.

Former Eureka High standout Aidan Morris continued to impress in his debut season with the team, finishing 2-for-4 and driving in one of his team’s runs.

Carter Thompson added a double and an RBI, with Riley Cleary and Dawson Bacho each also driving in a run.

Evan Gibbons pitched five inning for the win, allowing one earned run on four hits and one walk, while striking out five.

McKinleyville’s Dylan Campbell pitched four scoreless innings in relief to secure the win, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out four.

The Crabs are scheduled to host Seals Baseball on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
