The Humboldt State women’s basketball team is going dancing.
On Sunday night, the Jacks were included in the eight-team West Region field, earning the No. 7 seed for the prestigious tourney, which will be hosted by top seed UC San Diego.
HSU will open against No. 2 Northwest Nazarene on Friday.
“I am very excited and happy for the team,” HSU head coach Michelle Bento-Jackson said. “We appreciate the committee recognizing our body of work throughout the whole season, and we are very grateful for this opportunity.”
The playoff appearance will be the second straight for the Jacks, who made it to the regional semifinals a year ago after knocking off No. 1 seed Azusa Pacific.
Northwest Nazarene, which clinched the GNAC championship over the weekend, comes into the game with a record of 28-2.
The Jacks are 19-7.
Fans will be able to follow the Jacks’ NCAA Tournament run locally on ESPN 92.7 FM and 1340 AM.
