The Loggers had a big day at the plate in a softball doubleheader at Lower Lake on Tuesday, winning both games by scores of 12-8 and 12-0.

Alexa Moorehouse pitched the two wins for the Loggers (2-1), settling down after a shaky start and taking control of both games.

“She had a rocky start but she ended up figuring it out,” Eureka co-head coach Katelyn Graeser said. “She made a lot of adjustments to settle in.”

Moorehouse pitched two complete games, striking out eight in the nightcap.

At the plate, it was a particularly good day for the Loggers, with everyone in the lineup contributing.

“Everybody got a hit, and that was very positive,” the coach said.

The biggest hit of the day came from freshman Mckenna Beach, who hit a grand slam in the opener to key an eight-run third inning for the visitors.

Raime Young finished the game 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while Makaila Napoleon and Sadie Hampton each were 2-for-4 with an RBI.

“We had a tough time in the first game” Graeser said. “We had some defensive errors which put us behind, but they never stopped scoring.”

Young and Hampton carried their hot bats into the second game, with a pair of hits each.

Young also drove home three runs, while Hampton drove home two.

Karyn Jensen and Sadie Wilkinson each also had a pair of hits in the win, with Jensen also driving home three runs and Wilkinson two.

The Loggers won’t play again until a week from Saturday, when they travel to Shasta for a doubleheader.
