File photo – CR’s Luis Pimentel pitched seven strong innings against Lassen on Saturday, but took the loss in a 2-1 game.

The Corsairs suffered a pair of tough losses at home to Lassen on Saturday, dropping both games at Bomber Field by a single run.

Lassen won the opener 4-3 and game two 2-1, with CR unable to take full advantage of a pair of good pitching performances.

James Garcia remained hot for the home team, pitching 6.2 innings in the opener and striking out eight.

At the plate, the sophomore from Lake Elsinore and teammate Gannon Cyphers, a Eureka grad, each finished with a pair of hits.

The two continued to have the hot bats in the second game, with back-to-back triples leading to the Corsairs’ only run.

On the mound, another former Eureka Logger, Luis Pimentel, pitched well, striking out seven in a complete-game performance.

One of the visitors’ runs was unearned.

With the win, Lassen ended a four-game losing skid and improved to 10-12 overall and 5-5 in the Golden Valley Conference.

The Corsairs are now 3-21 on the season and 2-12 in conference.

The two clubs will close out a three-game series on Sunday, with first pitch set for noon at Bomber Field across from the Redwood Acres.

In softball, CR’s two road games at Shasta were cancelled on Saturday due to the weather.

The Corsairs (4-10) are scheduled to play a doubleheader at Siskiyous (4-12) on Sunday in what will be their conference opener.
