Every team likes to win, but when you do so with a thrilling finish, it makes it that extra special.

Especially so when it leads to a tournament championship.

And that’s exactly what happened for the McKinleyville Swoosh sixth and seventh grade girls AAU basketball team over the weekend, with Janessa Jackson-Crawford providing the late heroics in the championship game.

The Mack girls were competing at the NorCal Heat AAU tournament in the Redding area and found themselves trailing by a point in the final seconds.

Jackson-Crawford then nailed a 3-pointer from well behind NBA distance, and she and her teammates pulled out a 23-21 victory.

The McKinleyville team, pictured above, includes Gabby Watson, Mallorie Beauchamp, Isa Lucas-Zerbe, Teagan Greenlaw, Sasha Neyra, Alejandra Bazan, Zoe McCurdy, Kulani Burbank and Janessa Jackson-Crawford.
