The Humboldt State men’s basketball team are returning to the postseason, and will open the CCAA tournament at No. 1 seed Cal Poly Pomona on Tuesday night.

The Jacks, who missed out on the tournament a year ago, closed out conference play at 11-11, securing the eighth and final seed for the postseason tourney.

The game will not be broadcast by HSU athletics, but can be viewed through the Cal Poly Pomona web site.

“We are proud to be back in the postseason, for the 16th time in the last 19 years, and get another opportunity to win a CCAA Tournament championship,” head coach Steve Kinder said. “Five very good CCAA basketball teams have finished their seasons, and our team is fighting to extend its season while appreciating the opportunity to still be playing in March.”

HSU will go in with nothing to lose and plenty of confidence, having already knocked off the Broncos in Pomona earlier in the season.

Pomona was in the middle of a three-game losing skid back then, and the Broncos have gone 15-1 since, surging to tie UC San Diego atop the standings with a record of 17-5.

The Jacks are 17-13 overall, while Pomona is 19-5.
