H-DNL tennis fans will have to wait a little longer to see who’s the frontrunner in this year’s boys championship.

In a matchup of the top two contenders on Thursday afternoon, play was suspended due to darkness, with Arcata and Northcoast Prep Academy tied at 3-3.

The showdown at Arcata High saw each team claim three singles matches, with doubles play still to come.

The match will be resumed at a yet-to-be-determined date.

At No. 1 singles, Arcata’s Leo Janzen defeated Gabe Blank 7-5, 6-1, while at No. 2, NPA’s Hanner Milker got the better of Hunter Lewis 6-0, 6-0.

The Tigers took the next two singles matches.

At No. 3, Addison Childs defeated Garrett Leach 7-5, 6-2, while at No. 4, Tristan Washington defeated Alex Lamers 3-6, 6-4, 6-2

NPA’s Tareq Ahwrari and Caleb Weiss, however, ensured a 3-3 tie after singles play with wins over Ian Davison (8-5) and Corbin Luoma (8-6), respectively.
