HCDTF: Fields Landing Woman’s Gun and Drug-Filled Home Raided

Humboldt County Drug Task Force press release:
On May 21st , 2019, at approximately 4:35 p.m., Special Agents with the Humboldt County Drug Task Force
(HCDTF), with the assistance of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol,
conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Elk River Road and Herrick Avenue, Eureka. HCDTF had
previously obtained a search warrant for a vehicle that was being driven by Nathan Kohler Toews (age
41 from Eureka). The vehicle was also occupied by Jennifer Louise Burr (age 37 from Eureka).
Burr
During
their multi-week investigation, agents received information that Burr is involved in the illegal sales of
prescription narcotics.
During a search of the vehicle agents located nearly an ounce of suspected cocaine, digital scales,
packaging material, two firearms, and dozens of illegally possessed pills. Agents then served a search
warrant at Burr’s residence which is located in the 6600 block of 3 rd Street, Fields Landing. Inside Burr’s
residence agents located thousands of pills, hundreds of hypodermic needles, and multiple firearms.
Agents also contacted a juvenile at this location and released him to the custody of Child Welfare Services
for his safety.
Burr and Toews were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Humboldt County
Correctional Facility for possession of controlled substances for sales and weapons violations. Due to
Toews current medical condition, he was released from the jail and his involvement in this investigation
will be sent to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
