Erik Windschitl | TCSO

On May 24, 2019, Erik Windschitl of Burnt Ranch reported to the Trinity County Dispatch Center that a male had attacked him in his home, causing Windschitl to shoot the male (hereafter referred to as the victim).

Deputies and medical personnel responded to the area. At that time, they located Windschitl and the victim. The victim presented with several gunshot wounds, while Windschitl had a visible black eye. 

During the investigation, it was determined that Windschitl  and the victim had known one another for several years. Additionally, the two resided on the same property in the area of Burnt Ranch. Lastly, the incident had not occurred inside Windschitl’s residence, but rather, had occurred in the backyard. 

It was also discovered that the victim in the matter had slapped Windschitl in the face, just prior to Windschitl discharging a firearm at the victim two or three times.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital. He was treated for several gunshot wounds and later released. 

Windschitl  was placed under arrest for Attempted Homicide.
