It took them a little longer than hoped for, but on Friday the Fortuna Huskies got their first league win in their final game of the season.

And they did it with a dramatic finish, rallying late for a come-from-behind victory.

After dropping the opener of a doubleheader at home to Del Norte by a score of 17-8, the Fortuna girls battled back in the nightcap to edge out the Warriors 13-12.

Trailing 12-9 with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Fortuna tied the game with three doubles and the help of a throwing error, before Lorelei Martinez hit a single to score Lexi Roby for the walk-off win.

A number of players on both teams had big days at the plate in what was a high-scoring doubleheader.

Roby finished the second game 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, while Del Norte’s Maddy Burchell was 5-for-5 in the nightcap and 8-for-10 on the day.

With the split, the Huskies close out the Big 5 with a record of 1-11, while the Warriors finish up 3-9.
