The St. Bernard’s girls closed out the Little 4 on a winning note in softball on Monday, defeating Ferndale 17-2 in a make-up game at Ferndale High.

The Crusaders put the disappointment of last week’s two losses at Hoopa behind them quickly with 11 runs in the top of the first inning, and never appeared in danger of losing.

Ally Del Grande got the win in the pitcher’s circle, giving up just four hits while striking out six.

Del Grande also led the way at the plate, finishing 4-for-5 with three RBIs, while Calissa Stokesberry, Emma Wilson, Courteney Goodman and Alyssa Liles each had two hits in the win, as the Crusaders closed out league play at 9-3 and are now 10-8 overall.

Liles drove in three runs, while MacKenzie Finck was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

Teressa Riley also had a hit and an RBI, while Kara Waterman rounded out a 15-hit team performance.

Bryleigh Busick, Brianna Rimmey, Savannah Leonardo and Makenzie Renner each had a hit for Ferndale, which closed out league play at 1-11 and is 10-13 overall.

St. Bernard’s now plays Arcata in the opening round of the Charles Lakin H-DNL Tournament at  the Arcata Sports Complex on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
