The Arcata Tigers saw a memorable season in boys tennis come to an end on Tuesday in a 4-3 team loss to Sir Francis Drake at Fortuna High.

The Tigers came within one win of moving on, wining all three doubles matches.

The Pirates, however, took all four singles matches to secure the win.

At No. 1 doubles, Arcata’s Leo Janzen and Spencer Olson teamed together to defeat Kaden Brastow and Chris Carlucci, 6-2, 6-3, while at No. 2 doubles Yasko Massias and Tristan Washington defeated Cole Wood and Alex Ginsberg by a score of 6-3, 6-1.

At No. 3 doubles, Arcata’s Hunter Lewis and Zane Taylor got the better of the Drake pairing of Josh Lee and Charlie Lueck.

Arcata’s Ian Davison, Corbin Luoma, Austin Costello and Addison Childs each lost their singles matches.

The Tigers dominated the rest of the H-DNL this season on the way to a league title, and followed that with a strong showing at the NCS tournaments last weekend, placing third in both singles and doubles in the Division-II brackets.
