Arcata’s Keona Gutierrez won her match at No. 1 singles in the first round of the North Coast Section team tournament on Wednesday, but the Tigers fell 6-1 to San Francisco University.
Gutierrez defeated Sutton Soinski, 6-1, 6-0.
At No. 2 singles, Arcata’s Casey McAtasney lost 6-1, 6-1 to Jane Shvartsman, while at No. 3, Makayla Bernald fell to Sophie Nutting 6-1, 6-1.
At No. 4, Arcata’s Makenzie Dodd fell to Isabell Caro 6-0, 6-0.
The Tigers also dropped all three doubles matches.
Gutierrez will join teammate Aimee Reiner at Monday’s NCS doubles tournament at Napa Valley College.
