Shortly before 6 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office emailed an updated press release and, a bit later, a follow-up email that said they’d received new information and that due to this new info, “deputies have withdrawn their arrest warrant for Seeley Lane Spott Jr. and our press release has been corrected to reflect such.”

UPDATE: The Sheriff’s Office has received new information regarding the suspect of this assault with a deadly weapon. This information was not provided during the initial investigation of this crime and is a new development. Due to this new information, deputies have withdrawn their arrest warrant for Seeley Lane Spot Jr. and the below press release has been corrected to reflect this information.

On Nov. 14, 2019, at about 2:11 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 100 block of Indianola Reservation Road in Loleta for the report of an assault that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the suspect had gotten into an altercation with the 30-year-old male victim. At one point during the altercation, the suspect reportedly struck the victim in the head with a bat causing injury. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Deputies searched the surrounding areas but were unable to locate the suspect or the suspect vehicle. The suspect is wanted on charges of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.

Spott is described as an American Indian male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, 210 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen fleeing the scene in a blue/silver Toyota Corolla.
