Humboldt State will open conference play in men’s and women’s basketball on Thursday night, with Sonoma State traveling to Arcata.

The HSU women get the action under way at 5:30 p.m., and long-time HSU rowing head coach Robin Meiggs will be honored at halftime of the game after retiring from the program this past summer.

The men’s game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. and is the third in a five-game home stand for the Jacks, who are off to a 3-1 start this season.

Last week HSU defeated Antelope Valley 91-85 and Pacific Union 86-80.

Through the early season the Jacks have featured a balanced attack with five players averaging double digits in scoring, paced by RaySean Scott Jr. (24.3) and Leland Green (18.5).

Scott Jr., a senior forward from Compton, also leads the team in rebounds (8.0) and has five blocked shots through the opening four games.

Both HSU teams will also play Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday night.
