Lisa
Sue Reed – a.k.a. Boogie – was born on December 3, 1977 to
Barbara Taylor and Lawrence Reed Jr. Boogie lost her five-year battle
to cancer on November 15, 2019.
Boogie was a proud member of the Yurok Tribe and was employed by the Tribe’s fisheries department. She loved her job and spending time on the Klamath River. Boogie also loved spending time playing softball, beading and visiting with her grandchildren.
Boogie is survived by her stepmom of 32 years, Sharon Reed; her children Lashon Reed and Melissa Charles; her grandchildren Paris and London Donahue and Leora and Phillip Roberts; her siblings Cindy Niles Moon, Sonja Reed, Radenia Reed, Phillip Reed, Oscar Gensaw, James Gensaw and Shoshoni Hostler; her nephews and nieces Mindy Natt, Thomas Willson Jr., Greg Readen, Ashely, Joyce, Emaline, Kimit and Trout Peters, William, Makayla and Buck Logan, Wey-se-naw, Akira, Dwayne and Milliani Reed, Thayallen, David, Oskee and Queen Gensaw, James Jr., Tescha and Chey Gensaw, Sofia Myers, Olivia, Kautia and Skippy Hostler.
Boogie is also survived by her aunts and uncles Pauline Meyer, Barbara (Bob) Rakestraw, Ronnie (Crystal) Reed, Butch Reed, Greg Trimble, Laura Trimble, Doneen Trimble, Raldon “Beatles” Brown, Becky (Mike) Carroll and Tosh Tatum.
Boogie is preceded in death by her parents Barbara Taylor and Lawrence Reed Jr., siblings Richard Taylor, Jennifer Niles, Shannon and Gunny Reed; grandparents Lawrence and Delores Reed, Oscar Taylor and Ruby Downs.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the Yurok Tribal Office in Klamath at 1 p.m. A reception will be held immediately following the memorial. Burial will be at a later date when Boogie’s daughter Melissa can attend.
