On 11-22-2019 at about 1:47am, the Eureka Police Department Communication Center was
notified by the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) that the stabbing victim’s vehicle
had been located and that the female in possession of the vehicle had been taken into custody.
The female was identified as Shelly Elaine John (47 years old). They further advised that John
was being held on a charge of possession of stolen property and the vehicle had been
impounded as evidence.
A Eureka Police Department Detective was notified and re-contacted the victim. Based on the
identity information provided by SFPD, the victim was shown a photo line-up and positively
identified John as the person who stabbed her.
An arrest warrant was authored and issued for
John for charges of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking, and elder abuse. The
bail amount on the warrant is $135,000.
At the time of the writing of this press release, investigations staff are traveling to San
Francisco to process the vehicle and conduct follow-up on the investigation.
