UPDATE, 1:25 p.m.: A few moments ago, Eureka police detained one person — above — in connection with the stabbing, according to Capt. O’Neill of the EPD.

A person was stabbed at a vacant lot behind Broadway just before noon today, and police are at the scene investigating.

Emergency personnel at the scene reported, at the time, that the victim was stabbed multiple times in the back, but was alert and responding.

The location of the stabbing was the former “homeless oasis” on Bayshore Way that was dismantled earlier this year.

Sgt. Leonard LaFrance, at the scene, tells the Outpost that no suspects have yet been arrested. Numerous police are still on scene. We’ll update when we know more.
