Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – St. Bernard’s Justin Hagler breaks free for a 59-yard TD run during Saturday’s loss to Fortuna.

They may have lost to Fortuna on Saturday, but there were plenty of highlights for the St. Bernard’s Crusaders nonetheless, as they get set for the upcoming North Coast Section playoffs.

The Crusaders will now enjoy a bye week, where they can heal up and rest, and will find out their playoff seed next Sunday.

Head coach Matt Tomlin said after Saturday’s loss that he expects his team to drop from a one seed to a three, although MaxPreps only dropped them one spot to No. 2 in their latest rankings.

In addition to the high team ranking, three Crusaders are leading the way individually in the NCS.

Quarterback Will Omey is tops overall in offensive yards (3,305), while receiver Lane Thrap leads the section in receiving yards (1,155) and receiving TDs (19), and linebacker Justin Hagler leads in tackles (126).

Watch highlights of all three seniors from Saturday’s game, including Thrap’s 21st TD of the season and an Omey interception in the end zone on a two-point conversion attempt.

Talimaivao Fonoti also continues to play well for the Crusaders, grinding out some nice runs to go with a defensive TD he scored on Fortuna’s opening drive of the game.

Bode Joyner also pulled in a nice TD catch from Omey right before halftime to leave the teams deadlocked at the interval.
