A short-handed College of the Redwoods men’s basketball team suffered its second loss of the season at the American River Classic on Friday night, falling 72-67 to De Anza.

Donald Willis missed the game due to an injury he picked up in a win over the host school at the tournament on Thursday, while EJ Jackson was limited after picking up an injury in Friday’s loss.

Thomas Nelson, who has been the team’s most consistent offensive threat through the opening two weeks of the season, scored a team-high 16 points.

McKinleyville’s AJ Stubbs added 15 points, while Jackson had 10 points.

Wit the loss, the CR men drop to 4-2 on the young season.

Next up for the Corsairs is a trip to play Napa Valley next Thursday.
