Dale Levon Hoffmann passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the age of 93.
Born December 29, 1925 in Randolph, Utah to Raymond and Lillian Voss Hoffmann. Dale was the fourth of five children growing up on the Hoffmann cattle ranch. His childhood was filled with riding horses, ranch chores, and lots of family. Life on the ranch wasn’t easy, but Dale loved it, and often talked about his time in Randolph.
While serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Northern California, he met his sweetheart and eternal companion Edith Hodges. They were sealed for time and all eternity on April 27, 1949 in the Logan, Utah Temple.
Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Humboldt County, first settling in Rio Dell, and soon thereafter to Scotia where they lived until his retirement from The Pacific Lumber Company. He was a loyal PL employee and loved raising his five children in the company town.
After his retirement from PL, Dale and Edith moved to Fortuna, where they lived out the rest of their days surrounded by friends and family.
Dale was a faithful member of the Fortuna Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many different callings. He loved the Gospel and loved the Savior and his Heavenly Father.
When his dear sweetheart passed away two years ago, his life was never the same.
The family finds comfort in the knowledge that dale and Edith are together again.
Dale is preceded in death by his sweetheart Edith, parents Raymond and Lillian Hoffmann, brothers Elden and Merril, and his sister Angie Tucker Hoffmann, and his dear granddaughter Carrie Melcher.
He is survived by his brother Leon Hoffmann, children Alan (Melanie) Hoffmann, Marydalene Varner, Donna (Mike) Wood, Edith Ann (Kevin) Hamblin, Caralee Hoffmann, 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren.
