Press release from the City of Eureka:

On October 1, 2019, at about 7:15 a.m., an officer with the Eureka Police Department was patrolling the parking lot at the 800 block of West Harris Street when he recognized a male felony warrant suspect on a bicycle. The officer stopped the male and confirmed his identity as Larry Ray Gibson (33 of Eureka).

Gibson

A records check revealed Gibson was on probation and had a felony warrant for possession of stolen property. Gibson was placed under arrest for the warrant. During a search of his person, officers located about 3.6 ounces of Methamphetamine.

Based on Gibson’s probation terms, The Eureka Police Department Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP), with assistance from EPD patrol officers and deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), conducted a search of Gibson’s residence at the 1800 block of California Street. In Gibson’s room, detectives located Methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging, and a sawed-off shotgun.

Gibson was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for the felony warrant and for fresh charges of possession and transport of controlled substances, possession of controlled substances while armed, felon in possession of a firearm, and probation violation.

We would like to extend a thank you to HCSO for their prompt response and assistance while searching the residence.
