Del Norte’s Danika Scott will represent the H-DNL at next month’s North Coast Section girls tennis championships after winning the league title at No. 1 singles at Fortuna on Saturday.

Scott capped an impressive season on the North Coast with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Arcata’s Sydni Sobota in the final.

Scott’s teammate Aliyah Rafalowski took the league title at No. 2 singles, defeating Fortuna’s Emily Laursen 6-1, 6-3 in the final.

The Arcata Tigers carried their season-long dominance into the singles tournament, taking four of the six titles.

In the No. 3 final, Kendra Flint defeated Del Norte’s Emily Feeney by a score of 6-1, 6-1, while at No. 4 Makayla Bernald defeated Alex Riggs of Northcoast Prep, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-2 in the championship.

At No. 5, Simone Haggerty got the better of Fortuna’s Alejandra Aguilar 6-2, 6-3, while at No. 6 Ireland Sommers defeated Fortuna’s Lorelei Martinez 6-2, 7-5.

The H-DNL Doubles Tournament will take place on Friday at Fortuna, with the action getting under way at 10 a.m.

The NCS singles tournament will be held on November 19 at Napa Valley College.
