Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – Both McKinleyville and Arcata will compete in the NCS playoffs this week.

As expected, the Arcata Tigers’ North Coast Section volleyball opener has been pushed back one day to Thursday.

Originally scheduled for Wednesday night, the game had to be postponed due to the impending power outage, expected to last into Wednesday evening at least.

Game time on Thursday will now be 5 p.m.

Also in action this week, two local prep volleyball teams will open the playoffs on the road on Wednesday.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, both games are still scheduled to take place.,

The McKinleyville Panthers will tip off the Division-IV bracket as the No. 10 seed and will play at No. 7 St. Joseph-Notre Dame at 7 p.m.

In Division VI, Ferndale is seeded No. 13 and will open at Chabot College against No. 4 California Crosspoint.

A second game is scheduled to take place here on the North Coast on Thursday, with St. Bernard’s hosting Anderson Valley in Division VI.

The Crusaders are seeded No. 6, while the Panthers are No. 11.

Game time is 7 p.m.
