A memorable season on the volleyball court for the McKinleyville Panthers came to an end on Wednesday, as they bowed out of the North Coast Section Division-IV playoffs at St. Joseph-Notre Dame in Alameda.

The No. 10 seed Panthers lost 25-19, 25-14, 25-12, and finished the season an impressive 16-7.

Lexi White led the Mack girls with 12 assists, eight digs and two kills, while teammate Hailee Henry had two kills, a block and an ace.

The Heenan sisters also closed out an impressive season.

Senior Rian Heenan had six digs, two kills and an ace, while junior Cameron Heenan had 10 digs, three aces and a pair of kills.

In other volleyball playoff action on Wednesday, the No. 13 seed Ferndale Wildcats went down fighting in Division VI, losing in five sets against No. 4 California Crosspoint at Chabot College in Hayward.

The Cats took the opening two sets against the higher seeds but saw the momentum slip away, losing 24-26, 23-25, 25-15, 25-12, 25-11.

Both Arcata and St. Bernard’s will open their playoff campaigns at home on Thursday.

The Tigers hot St. Mary’s at 5 p.m., while the Crusaders host Anderson Valley at 7:30 p.m.
