Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – Arcata’s Alex Gorge

Apparently Arcata’s back-ups are pretty good too.

In what was a rout of close rivals McKinleyville at the Redwood Bowl on Friday night, the Tigers got plenty of offense from their starters, with a dominating performance from the offensive line paving the way for a five-TD performance from senior running back Kien Mazzotti.

But they weren’t alone, with the Arcata back-ups impressing late in the game, no one more so than sophomore running back Alex Gorge.

The tailback scored his first-ever varsity TD behind a back-up offensive line that made it possible late in the game, capping a brilliant overall offensive performance by the Tigers.

Watch as Gorge fights off a couple of tackles to find the end zone in a moment he won’t easily forget.

The Tigers, who have now scored 82 points in two conference games, won the game 44-13, with Gorge’s TD closing out the scoring.
